Necklace
Minutes to create: 60
Supplies needed:
13 Black glass beads, 39 silver rondelle beads, 8 turquoise beads, 4 inches of large cable chain, lobster clasp, 20 head pins.
1
.
Take 19 head pins and using side-cutter pliers, cut off heads.
2
. Make a small head pin loop on one end of each of the 19 head pins. (
See Bead Basics
).
3
. Take 11 of the 19 head pins and slide the following beads on: 1 silver rondelle, 1 black bead and 1 silver rondelle. Make a small head pin loop. Keep loops open.
4
. Take the remaining 8 head pins and slide on the following beads: 1 silver rondelle, 1 turquoise bead and 1 silver rondelle. Make a small head pin loop. Keep loops open.
5
. You will now connect the head pin sections to each other in the following pattern: Black bead head pin, turquoise bead head pin, black bead head pin. Continue this pattern until you have 2 black bead head pins remaining. Attach one to each end. Close all head pin loops.
6
. Separate 1 - 4" section of chain and attach it to one end of your necklace by opening the end head pin loop.
7
. Take your lobster clasp and attach it to the opposite end of your necklace by opening the end head pin loop. Discard tag.
8
. Creating a necklace extender will allow you to extend your necklace from 21 inches to 25 inches. First you will make a charm to add to the end of the extender. Take a silver head pin and thread a black bead (some of the black bead holes may be larger or smaller than others. Make sure you choose a bead with a hole that will fit the head pin). Next thread a silver rondelle bead and another black bead. Make a loop with your round nose pliers and thread the loop of the head pin through the other end of the chain connected to your necklace.
