Halloween, the holiday that has, over time, transformed my children from cute, sweet, characters to down right frightening creatures. I've watched them go from princesses and pirates to dismembered, bloody, bodies with objects protruding from them.
Five-thirty p.m. is the start of trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. It starts with the babies & princesses. Next come the football players, cheerleaders, hippies and hobos. These are followed by the pirates, vampires, witches and werewolves. Just when you think the night is over, the monsters arrive. What is it about teenagers and trick-or- treating? My teenagers try to convince me that is has nothing to do with the candy, as they walk out the door with a king size pillowcase in their hand and a hat for a costume. I find that my typically well-behaved children suddenly act as if they've never seen a piece of candy before. I've tried to convince them to eat it all in one night just to get it over with. FYI, not a good idea. Have a Happy Halloween & |
