New Year's Eve became a birthday party at our house starting 12 years ago when my daughter Lauren was born at 12:01 am and awarded the coveted title of ''First Baby of the New Year.'' Since most of her friends were out of town this year, we agreed to have her party last Friday. She wanted it to be a Murder Mystery Party where everyone dresses in character and tries to figure out who the culprit is. The theme was "Horror at Homecoming." Six hours before the party, I was building a balloon arch for our front porch when my husband walked in, took one look at what I was doing and said, "I'm sure I would have gone a lot further in life, if I had had a mother like you." Seven o'clock came and everyone arrived. Lauren came down in her hot pink formal that we had found for $10 at a store closing sale. The girls huddled together giggling while the boys acted all cool, but as soon as the lights went out and someone fell to the floor, everyone fell into character. After everyone had gone, Lauren came to me, hugged me and said it was the best party ever. Three days later, the balloon arch is still up and may never come down, (picture below) and I'm still considered the best Mom ever! Have a great month & |

![]() Did you know that sponge hair rollers are a great tool for keeping beaded strands organized as well as beading wire, cord, or thread? Just open the clasp on the roller, wind on the strung beads and close the clasp. Do the same for your wire, cord, or thread. *If you have a tip you'd like to share, we'd love to hear it.
