The end of another year always brings questions of reflection to my mind. What have I actually accomplished this year that is really important? Have I increased in anything besides age and waist line? What will I write in my Christmas letter that will fool my friends into thinking I'm amazing? Does anyone really ever roast chestnuts on an open fire?
Okay, so I border on psychotic during the holidays, but surely I can't be the only one who feels this way. The years come and go and I can't help, but wonder what legacy I leave behind. I don't think amazing mashed potatoes and gravy qualify as a legacy, even though I'm sure my children will argue that.
Why isn't raising five children and a husband enough? Why can't that be my legacy? Why can't my Christmas letter just say, "Merry Christmas, I made it through another year" or "Merry Christmas, the kids are still alive"? I'm sure my husband would never make me write the Christmas letter again. Just a thought.
