PDQ Corner Project of the Month

She really is your daughter - I have a very precocious niece named Vashti. She was named after Queen Vashti in the Bible and is always telling everyone that she is a princess.

Her mother, my younger sister, was the biggest "tom boy" on the block. She hated dresses, never played with dolls, and could beat up any boy in her class.

As soon as Vashti was two, we began to wonder where she came from. My sister was mother to the biggest "girly girl" on the block.

The other day she and her younger sister Hannah were headed to a neighbor's house. As soon as they were out the door Hannah started running. Vashti sweetly calling to Hannah said, "Hannah, princesses don't run." Hannah looked back, but kept running.

Again in a little louder voice Vashti said, "Hannah princesses don't run." This time Hannah didn't even look back, she just kept on running. Suddenly at the top of her lungs and in a dead run Vahsti yelled, "Hannah, princesses don't run!" It was good to see a little of my sister tucked away inside of Vashti.

Interesting Bead Facts

Autumn Jasper - Jasper is a powerful healing stone. It helps us move beyond just surviving to making us glad to be alive. The heat of summer is over and the evenings are just cool enough to light a fire in the woodstove or fireplace. Life is good. Somehow you'd forgotten. That's what Autumn Jasper reminds us of whenever we wear it.
