February 2008
PDQ Corner Project of the Month

Drama, Drama, Drama. No one ever told me that if I looked up the word "drama" in the dictionary the definition would be "teenage girls." I remember reading somewhere that teenagers don't have the ability to reason. Imagine the inability to reason mixed with a teenage girl's hormones and that will give you a glimpse into my life.

Don't get me wrong. I adore my four daughters and I even realize that I was once their age, but I think once you've left that phase of your life, the brain disposes of those cells associated with irrational behavior in the extreme. (I'm sure my husband would argue that fact)

There are boy friends and girls friends to deal with, good grades and bad grades, dating and driving, pimples, cramps and curfews. Sometimes I wonder how they keep from exploding.

Thankfully through it all, my daughters consider me their friend. We stay up late talking; we shop together, play together and our favorite, watching 5-hour BBC movies together. Actually, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Have a great month & remember to
Never stop creating!

Interesting Bead Facts

Blue Agate - If blue is your color, (it is "the color" for millions), the jewelry you create with this vibrant sky blue agate will be a "must have." Blue is associated with truth, loyalty, and reliability. Its importance for healing has been recognized since the Golden Age of Greece. It was revered in ancient Indian and Chinese civilizations. Poise and serenity have always been associated with blue light. Even the expression "feeling blue" comes from blue's cool, sedative effect. No wonder even people who don't "love blue" are drawn to people who do.

Beading Tips

Easy Bracelet Sizing

Have you ever noticed how bracelets, even though they may all be the same length, will each fit a little bit differently? This is because the size of the beads affects the bracelet's inside diameter. An easy way to make sure the bracelet is the right length for the size of your beads -- and your wrist -- is to find the inside diameter of a bracelet that fits. Slide the bracelet over an upside-down paper cup and, using a permanent marker, draw a line on the cup around the bracelet. Use the cup as a guide for measuring your future bracelet projects.
