PDQ Corner Project of the Month

Today’s my 40 something birthday and I’m wondering how I suddenly became my mother’s age. I remember as a child thinking I would never be as old as my mother (I think she was only 36 at the time). I always swore I’d do things differently than her, until one day I found myself….

* Counting to 5 to get a child to move.
* Talking about starving children in Africa at the dinner table.
* Saying, "Wait until your father gets home!"
* Disguising leftovers by using "surprise" in the name.
* Crying during Hallmark card commercials.
* Cleaning faces with a wet thumb.
* Hugging my children in public.
* Kissing my husband in front of my children and other unthinkable acts.

So after 40 something years of fighting it, I’ve decided to embrace who I’ve become. A loving, caring, sometimes not very “cool”, but always trying to do her best, Mother, just like my Mom. I can’t imagine wanting to be anything else.

Have a great month &
