PDQ Corner - November 2006 Project of the Month

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

I love the Christmas season. I love the smell of pine (created by my candles), the smell of baked goods for the neighbors (picked up at the local bakery), and the sound of Christmas music playing on the radio the day after Halloween! Has life really become so crazy that the Christmas I remember as a child is and forever more will be just a memory?

I remember the "real" smell of pine and needles scattered through the house. I remember pulling taffy, making peanut brittle, fudge and divinity. I remember waiting for Thanksgiving to come and go, so stores would begin to decorate and the newest toys would be put on the shelves. I remember reading all my favorite Christmas stories and never missing a Christmas show because they were on the network stations instead of cable (cable wasn't around yet). Most of all, I remember Christmas as a feeling, not an event to be hurried through and glad when it was finally over.

Let's all try to make Christmas more of a feeling for our families and those around us this year.

Have a great holiday season &
Never Stop Creating!

You may not know...
Wire Gauge
Wire is measured by gauge - the higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire. The appropriate wire gauge is determined by the technique you will use and the type of bead that the wire will go through. In general, 24-gauge wire is appropriate for wire-wrapped loops and most semi-precious gemstones. For pieces such as a clasp or design element, you may want to choose thicker wires, such as 20-gauge wire.
